12 Panel Punched Tin Pie Safe

We are delighted to bring you this 12 panel, hand-punched-tin, pie safe.  Every time we build one of these, we say it is our last.  It is enormously time consuming.  Each tin panel takes close to an hour to punch - twelve hours of labor for just the tin panels !  It is tiring and hard work.  But the results are always gratifying.  We hope you'll agree.

If you want a unique cupboard, then we don't think you'll find one more exceptional than this.  It is also remarkably practical and has a enormous amount of storage capacity.  We have one in our own kitchen and a picture of it filled with baking supplies is shown below for reference.  No one who enters our home fails to notice it and marvel at how wonderful and artistic it looks.  We've seen unfinished pie safes, with only six tins, and vastly inferior workmanship being sold at nearly the same price.  We are proud of our work and pleased to offer it to you at such a fair price !

This product features:

  • 12 Individually Hand Punched Tin Panels.  This is a complex pattern which takes a long time to punch.  The panels are also of a far thicker tin than most commercial products.  We've seen some pie safes that boast that their tin panels are backed with wood for "added support".  That is because their "tin panels" are not much thicker than tin foil.  We've seen others that are of either a simplistic design or were machine punched.  Our's is the real thing !  This particular punch design, a beautiful rose, employs three different punches !  Don't be fooled with lesser quality.
  • This pie safe is made from solid, clear, pine.  There are few knots.  There are NO laminates, veneers, or particle board ANYWHERE on this product.
  • The rear panel is comprised of individually shiplapped boards.  Everyone else uses a 1/4" piece of fiberboard.  Not us !  We use solid, 3/4" pine.  We went to the added step of shiplapping the boards to add a nice detail.
  • The interior has been stained a rich wheat tone.  This provides a nice finished feel and a warm transition from the naturally stained exterior.  No one finishes the inside of their pie safe !
  • The exterior has been lightly stained to accentuate the exceptionally nice grain pattern of the wood.  This wood was hand selected at the lumber yard - located here in the Northeast Kingdom - especially for this project.  The grain was matched to maintain a consistent look and feel to the product.  We don't use various pieces of scap that are glued together to create a single board.  No way !
  • The dimensions are: 25"w x 17"d x 60"h
  • Weight is approximately 40 lbs

Quality & Craftsmanship

Our products are made from solid wood.  We use no particle board, veneers, or cuts of wood that are glued together end-to-end.  Think "window sash".

We pay close attention to grain figuration.  Our goal is to make the work look like it was created from a single piece of wood.

For strength we use proven joinery techniques such as, mortise-and-tenon; cope-and-stick; biscuit; and dovetails.

Our goal is to produce a product that will be enjoyed by you and future generations to come.
